It is often attributed to Sebastian Sed, an internationally active agency owner who is said to have introduced a standardized card in the 1960s to simplify the selection of models. Another common explanation derives the term from the English verb “to seduce,” as the card is intended to “tempt” clients into booking the featured person.

The event staff can be contacted and booked through the agency listed on the sedcard. Especially for trade fair hostesses and hosts, the quality of these photos often determines whether they get booked.

As a hostess or host, your sedcard is your most important marketing tool. Portrait / Profile Photo

American Portrait

An American portrait is framed from the head down to about mid-thigh. It allows clients to see both your facial expression and part of your physique at the same time – making it one of the most common photo formats for sedcards.

Full-Body Photo

A full-body photo shows you from head to toe. Wear simple, well-fitting clothing so your figure and posture are clearly visible. For trade fairs and events, a neat, business-appropriate appearance is essential.

Additional Photos

It's also helpful to include photos showing you in different poses, outfits, and situations – ideally in a typical event work outfit. There are no fixed rules here. The only important guideline: avoid selfies, as they tend to look unprofessional.
